• 1. Can I recover encrypted files?

  As the encrypted file is protected by a kind of encryption algorithm, the software cannot recover the data. Most recovery software also doesn’t have the ability to do this because of the same reason.

• 2. Can I recover files deleted a long time ago?

  You can recover the deleted data with the software regardless of the time period. It is more dependent on whether the lost data has been overwritten by new data. So as long as the original lost data has not been overwritten, the software can retrieve the data.

• 3. Can I recover files from iPod, iPhone or iPad?

  The software can only recover data from devices, which can be recognized as removable storage devices on the computer. Examples of these devices are iPods.

• 4. What kind of hardware does the software support?

  The software supports PC and other mobile devices that can be recognized as a removable storage device. Examples:
  Cameras and their storage cards, mobile phones and their memory cards, mobile hard disks, USB drives, MP3 MP4 players, iPods (Nano, Classic & Shuffle).

• 5. Why the program fails to recover lost files?

  If the lost files can't be found or opened, they might have already been overwritten or corrupted before you use our software. As an option, you can try Lost File Recovery module in the standard mode while enabling Deep Scan to run the program again. Here are the steps:
  1. After running the program, please click on the “Standard mode”.
  2. Click on the “Lost File Recovery”.
  3. Choose the drive and check “Enable Deep Scan”, click on the “Start” to continue.

  In case the above solution fails, please use Raw Recovery module while enabling for all files to try once again. This function will recover files thoroughly, but it takes more time to scan. Here are the steps:
  1. After running the program, please click on the “Standard mode”.
  2. Click on the “Raw File Recovery”.
  3. Choose the drive and check “For All Files”, click on the “Start” to continue.

• 6. Why can't my hard disk be detected by Data Recovery for Mac?

  If the version you have installed is from the App Store, the case may be due to the specific version. You can download the version from the official web, then contact us with the receipt from the App Store, we will apply for a new code for you to install this one.

• 8. What are the system requirements for Wondershare Data Recovery for Mac?

• 9. Can I recover the files from a CD or a DVD?

  The software cannot recover files from a CD or DVD. It can only recover data from a computer or a removable storage device.

  In the future, you can make a back up of your CD or DVD files to a computer or external hard drive.

• 10. Can the software recover files from a hard drive (HDD) that has crashed?

  The software can retrieve the data from a hard drive (HDD). You will need to extract the hard drive and connect it to a working computer.
  Once you are able to recover your files, it’s advised to make a back up of your files.

• 11. What are the limitations of the Data Recovery trial version?

  Data Recovery Trial version can scan lost data including documents, photos, videos and audios from all storage devices that can appear as Drive letter in your PC. And you could preview the documents and photos when using trial version. However, only the registered version can recover files.

• 12. Why can’t some files be previewed?

  The following reasons will lead to this case:
  1) The formats are not supported by preview. Only the formats PDF, HTML(HTM), ZIP, JPG, TIFF(TIF), PNG, BMP, GIF, PSD, CRW, CR2, NEF, ORF, RAF, SR2, MRW, DCR, DNG, ERF, RAW can be previewed by the product. Note that PDF, HTML, ZIP should be less than 10M, photos should be less than 15M.
  2) Operations, shock or static electricity may lead to overwriting of the lost data.

  If the files are not previewed, you can check the validity of the files. The good status ones can also be recovered even though they are not previewed.

• 14. Can I select a specific folder or a format to scan?

  No, the product doesn't have this feature. You can find the partition the folder or file locates in, then choose the specific partition under Partition Recovery module to scan. When the lost folder is found, you can enter the file name to search and this will save time.

• 15. Why the software doesn't recoginze my External HDD or SD card?

  To fix it, here are some tips for you:

  1. Make sure the External HDD or SD card can be recognized by the computer. If no, it may be damaged.

  2. If your SD card is in good condition, you can try using a card reader to see if it's recognized.

  3. Use App Cleaner(freemacsoft.net/# ) first and remove every vestige of the earlier install THEN re install from the link http://download.wondershare.com/cbs_down/mac-data-recovery_full737.dmg

  4. You could click Refresh Drives button on the program interface to refresh the drive list.

  5. If the program doesn't acquire the volume name, it will be named as "untitled". Please find the drive by the drive size and file system.

  6. Please run Raw Recovery and Partition Recovey to scan the entire disk for a try.

  7. Please restart your computer and insert the USB drive before you start the application.
