How to convert DVD movie and video to iPhone on Mac OS X

As we know, iPhone only support H.264, MPEG-4 in .mp4, .mov, .m4v formats, and MP3, protected AAC, AAC, Audible, Apple lossless in .aac, .mp3, .m4a files. That's to say, you need to convert your DVD movies and video to the format supported by iPhone. This guide will includes two parts:

Part1. How to rip protected DVD movie to iPhone on Mac

Step1. Add DVD Movie. Click the Load DVD button, browse your computer, find the DVD folder of the movie you want to add from your hard disc or DVD-ROM, open your DVD folder, select the VIDEO_TS folder and click OK. Or, click the Load IFO button, browse your computer, find the DVD folder of the movie you want to add from your hard disc or DVD-ROM, open your DVD folder, open the VIDEO_TS folder, select all the IFO files and click OK. After you add your DVD movie, you can choose any titles or chapters you want to convert by ticking the check boxes before them.

Step 2: Output Settings
Many mobile phones supports 3GP, 3G2 formats, but iPhone does NOT. iPhone supports H.264, MPEG-4 in .mp4, .mov, .m4v formats, and MP3, protected AAC, AAC, Audible, Apple lossless in .aac, .mp3, .m4a files. The native video size of iPhone is 480x320. Just as the 5gen video iPod.

At the bottom of the main window, you can name the output file for the current title/chapter, and select a subtitle to put on your movie, select an audio track. Then finish all the settings including selecting an output format for the current title/chapter from the format drop-down list:

clicking the Settings button to set the video and audio encoding settings such as video resolution, video bit rate and audio sapmle rate and so on, choose if to merge the selected titles or chapters into one file, and set an output directory to save the output files.

Step 3: Start Conversion After setting the output settings, you can just click the Convert button to start converting your DVD Movie for iPhone on mac. You can choose to shut down your computer or open the output folder after conversion so you don't have to sit before your computer waiting for the conversion to finish.

Part2. How to convert video and put video to iPhone on Mac

Step 1. Add Video files
Click the 'Add Files' button to add video files to the program by automatically selecting an appropriate encoder for the video files you want to convert to the program.

Step 2: Output Settings
After you add video files, you can select an output format for each video file and specify a directory on your computer to save the output files. If you want to merge all added video files into one file, you can check the 'Merge into one file' option. If you don't want to use the default video and audio encoding settings, just click the Settings button to set these settings.

Step 3: Start Conversion
Click the Convert button to start conversion and then you can just go out for a walk or take a nap, and the conversion may have been finished when you come back.

Part3. How to edit video for iPhone on Mac (Optinonal)

1. Trim video files Click the Trim button to open the Trim window and trim the current video file by dragging the Start Time slider to set the start point, and drag the End Time slider to set the finish point. The final length can be found at 'Trimmed Length'. Click OK when you finish the trimming.

2. Crop Movie Video
If you want to remove the black edges or just convert part of the video area from your video file, you can click the Crop button and specify an area either by dragging the frame around the video or setting the crop values: Top, Button, Left and Right by directly entering the crop values.

You can also select an output aspect ratio and the available options are: Keep Original, full screen, 16:9 and 4:3. You can preview the video in the select aspect ratio on the main interface and during the conversion process.

3. Video Effect
Click the Effect button and drag each effect adjustment slider to set the video brightness, contrast, saturation and audio volume. You can also choose to flip the video and apply a special video effect to your video file by selecting a special effect from the Effect drop-down list: Gray, Emboss, Old Film and Negative. The video effect can be previewed in the right pane. You can also set the audio volume here by dragging the Volume slider.
